Example: Officejet 5740
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

After a recent upgrade my Print & Scan doctor works fine until I get to Test Scan, it reports that the HP Officejet 5740 series was not found.

Hello @Jimmy771 – Hope you are well 🙂

I understand that the printer is not scanning after the Windows 10 upgrade. Try the steps below:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/oj5740/OJ5740__Basicx86_1092.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Once done, restart your printer and then try scanning.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Thanks & have a great day 🙂

Thanks for the help. I never had those drivers before, when I wanted to scan I had to open up the Print Scan Doctor. This makes it much faster.
