HP 8620
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Officejet 8620 is offline.  It is connected via a wired network to my HP Spectre 360.  Whenever I shut down the computer and start it up again, the printer starts up Offline - for example, when I got to print from Microsoft Word (Office Pro 2016), the printer shows as "Offline" in the Word Print dialogue, and I get a Windows system message, saying printer offline - and nothing prints.

I can fix this using the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  But if I shut the computer down, and start it up again, it is offline again.

I can fix this by going to the printer, pressing the button on the front to power it off, and then restarting it - the document in the print queue prints immediately.

Also, if I start the Embedded Web Server, select "Tools", and then click on "Print Self Test Page", the page prints as normal. However, if I then go back to Microsoft Word, the printer remains offline.

The HP Printer Assistant starts up fine, and the Scan a Document or Photo function works just fine.

It's just printing that doesn't.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks
Philip

Thank you, this link 'Offline' Printer Status Message Displays (Windows 10),  very nearly solved the problem.  I worked all the way through it to Step 7, where I found it contains no instruction explaining what to do when the "Add Printer" dialogue at Step 7,  number 2, doesn't find any printers.  The answer, for me, was to select "The Printer I want isn't listed", and on the next dialogue, select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname", and entering the IP address from Step 6, number 7.

Thanks for your help, and sorry to take such a long time to respond - I've been away.

Philip
