Replaced printer cartridge and will only print color after alignment.  Alignment keeps failing.  Went thru all instructions on print doctor to no avail.

Hi @Lurch1,

Allow me to welcome you to the HP community.  A very good day to you. 🙂 I understand that you require assistance regarding cartridge alignment errors. It will be a delight to assist you. 🙂

Superb description and very smart diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  .  You are a valued HP customer and it is a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For starters, I will require more information regarding this to assist you better.

  • Did you try to clean the cartridges?
  • Did you try to replace the cartridges and check?
  • Did you perform a hard reset on the printer?

For starters, please try all the prescribed steps from these links.

Link 1: HP Inkjet Printers - 'Alignment Unsuccessful' Error Message Displays: http://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-deskjet-f4500-all-in-one-printer-series/3944755/document/c048...

If steps repeat, please skip those steps only and proceed with the other valid steps. This should correct the issue if the cartridge is not faulty. If it still does not do the trick for you, please don’t worry about it. The cartridge being new is under warranty should be replaced by contacting HP phone support.

Steps to contact HP phone support:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Contacted by employee of HP who read my post, then gave me smiley faces for going thru all the steps and then gave me 2 websites to look at that go thru those exact same steps.  Not only is my printer out of warrenty, HP does not support it anymore.  For them to fix this issue would cost me a fortune.  Just cheaper to go and buy another one.
