HP Envy 5532
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Following a software update on my Mac to OS Sierra 10.12.1, I can no longer scan documents from my HP Envy 5532 to my Mac. Initially the printer was advising that scan to computer was not enabled.  I checked through the HP utility application on my MAC and got this message:

Scan to computer cannot be enabled:

The HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device from http://www.hp.com/support, and then try again.

I found a forum on here with the same problem and followed the steps, switch printer off, rebook Pc etc. I then resorted to uninstalling the HP printer software and downloading again from the HP site.  Once downloaded, initially it let me check the scan to computer box on the HP utilty app, however as soon as I went to perform the scan from the printer, I am now geeting this messgae: The printer Connection error, computer not responding, check USB Wifi.

And back on the HP app on my Mac I am getting the same scan to computer cannot be enabled message & to download latest software. In the meantime I am having to open up the HP utility app on my Mac and prompt the scan from that side.

It seems to me that the HP software is just not fully compatable with Mac OS Sierra? Has anyone else got the same issue or can any techies help???

Hi,
I suggest deleting any existig HP Scan or HP Easy Scan application from the Applications folder, delete it by moving it to trash, then empty the trash.

Next install the latest HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed within the Applications folder:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

Next ensure the latest software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, ensure your drivers are up to date by clicking the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update.
Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.

Now check and see if you may see any difference once enabling or using Scan to Computer.,
