Each morning I have to reinstall my scanner again. After doing the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.0 procedure it works again, but having to do it every morning is annoying.

I came across your post and would like to help.
I recommend you to reinstall the software using the steps mentioned in the link below and check if that solves the issue.
First, uninstall the printer following the link below.
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02259020
Then, download the latest driver and install the printer and configure it once again and check for the issue.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61220/mp-147799-1/EN4520_72.exe
