HP Officejet Pro 8600
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I recently bought a refurbished 2012 vintage macbook pro and wish to connect using ethernet cables two different HP Officejet Pro 8600s in two different locations.  (different living quarters used at different times.)  I previously had iMacs at each location and have been using these printers.  Wishing to use just the laptop from now on, I have only been able to get one of the printers to work.  Any suggestions?

Using OS 10.11.6

Thanks

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to connect to printers to one notebook,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you installed both the printers using the WiFi and have issues printing or have you not initiated the setup procedure yet?

Are you receiving any error messages during installation? (I would appreciate a few more elaborate details).

While you respond to that, here's a few things you need to do:

To install both printers on the same product, You will just need to install the second printer the same way that you installed it originally.

  • Although that said, if you have any difficulties as such, you could install one driver using the driver available at the HP Website: Click here to download
  • And the other using the Apple software to use the generic driver for MacOS: Click here for details.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Sorry, I've been on the road.  I currently can only check one of these printers at a time since the locations are a hundred miles apart and I get to each of them in somewhat random fashion.

Location A, with usb cable seems to be working fine.

When I get back to Location B, I will try again and use links you have provided.  It should be in the next few days.

Thanks.

Here's the update from loacation 2.

I can print wirelessly from my Iphone, but still no connection with the laptop.  I'd be happy to use the laptop wirelessly as well if I could figure that out.  But so far I haven't been able to.

@sleepy1892,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the printer in location 2 does not connect to the wireless network.

Let me jump in with a solution for this issue in place of my colleague as he is out of the office today.

This issue could occur if the wireless setup is not correct.

Please follow the link: Wireless Printer Setup (Mac)

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.
