LaserJet Pro M501n
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Installed driver fine on XP 32 bit maching but the W7 64 machine fails.  When I reach the step to connect the printer USB port I get a message that driver failed to install.  It proceeds anyway to 99% flashing that message constantly starting at 70%.  At 99% it stops and finally times out.  I've tried every suggestion I can find here but can't install either from CCD or on line pcl 6 file for 65 bit W7.  Always the same problem.  Device driver shows no driver either but does know the printer is there.  Nice paper weight but worthless as a printer.  Yes I uninstalled and rebooted several times to no avail.

Oops meant 501n.  Found the problem after three days of frustration.  I had been using USB 3 ports.  Once I switched to the USB 2 port it installed fine.  Same with a second W7 64 bit printer.  Both fail to install if connected to USB 3 port.  Install fine with USB 2.  Once installed USB 3 port works fine for printing, just not installation.  Two different computers bought years apart and different models (both Dell however) but the same problem.
