I must have made a huge error by buying an HP printer for a Mac. The wireless won't connect. I'm connected by USB cable. The first and only print page showed black and magenta only. Pages print only in B-W. Nowhere have I selected grayscale only. As a last resort I reinstalled software and problem resolved (at least for printing; haven't tried scanning or fax yet).

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
For scan, can you try this:
Ensure the latest software is installed, use this link for your printer:
macOS X : HP Easy Scan
https://goo.gl/zBChKC
Also, make sure that your drivers are up to date
> Click on the Apple icon, select About this Mac and then press Software Update
>Click Store on the top menu bar, click Reload Page, click Update All if any updated are available.
Hope that helps!
