recorded printer history

Does my HP Envy 4500 record (keep track of) my printing activity (# of copies, BW or color, etc.?  If so, is that information available to me as owner and primary user?  How?

I'm a part of the Instant Ink program but HP isn't at all interested in telling me my printer activity - merely when I need to send them more money.

Thanks for using the HP Forums

You can actually print a Printer Status Report where it will show you the "Print Usage Information" and other information.  It does not show you the number of BW/color pages but just the total pages printed.

Generating the Report:

1. From the printer front panel, go to "Tools"

2. Select "Printer Status Report" to print.

A Printer status report may help:

A Printer Status Report lists the printer serial number, estimated ink levels, ink cartridge numbers, printer usage, and connectivity, scan, and fax settings.

1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.
2. On the printer control panel, press the Home button. Press the Down arrow until Tools is highlighted, and then press OK.
3. Press the Down arrow until Printer Status Report is highlighted, and then press OK.
