First, the icon for scan and capture disappeared, and I could only scan from the printer itself. I reinstalled the drivers for my printer several times, and the icon appears on my tool bar, but when I click it, the screen closes and the program does not open.
I would like to be able to use scan from my computer, instead of having to run back and forth to the printer.

Hi,
What happens if you open the HP Scan software of your printer?
Click the HP Officejet 4630 icon and press on Scan a document or photo.
The HP Scan and Capture is an optional app available from Microsoft Store, it is not the main scan application for your printer...
Click the Yes button to reply that the response was helpful or to say thanks.

It is a solution that works for me and is acceptable. However, it is not the HP Scan and Capture app that comes with the printer, which no longer seems to be on my computer.
After spending the last 20 years using HP Printers, I have come to accept that not everything works as they say it should, and that you have find work-arounds to get it to do what it's supposed to do in the first place. It actually is better than it used to be.
Having tried other printers, I keep coming back to HP because it's the best of the worst.
