I just put 2 brand new ink cartridges in my printer.  Prior to this, there was an error with a flashing light, so I replaced the ink cartridges.  My black ink works fine.  But I can't get anything to print in color.  I've tried pdf files, Microsoft word, and web pages.  The only thing that will print in color is the test page.  It's highly unlikely to be the cartridges I think, but I did do a cleaning on the printer, as well as physically cleaning the cartridge.  I went through all the settings, changing different things, and nothing seems to work.  I have tried everything I can think of!  Please, someone tell me what's wrong with my printer!  I've spent almost all day sitting here trying to make it work!

I almost forgot.....I'm using Windows 7.

Thank you!

Hello Lori1976,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you are having some issues when attempting to print in colour.

Please click on the following link for Correcting Print Quality Problems.

Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.

If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,   Smiley Happy

This is pretty silly.  After talking to a coworker, he suggested uninstalling my printer, then downloading the drivers again.  I did just that, and now it works!  The icon looks different now.  I have no idea why, but the "update drivers" button was not clickable.  However, I did finally get it figured out.  My printer now prints in all colors!  😄

Outstanding! HP help moderator sends you to a generic help page, and the other user finds the solution.

It was as simple as disinstalling the printer and then re-installing it.

On my Mac under printer & scanners, select the HP printer from the list on the left, hit the minus symbol ( - ), then hit the plus symbol ( + ), re-install the printer, et voila, printer prints in color, all pages, not only the test page!

Thank you!
