5600 series printer cannot be set as default in Win 7 though test page prints

Test page prints fine and docs print from Word but Excel can't find the printer. Control panel gives error message and won;t let me set as default printer. How do I get it to work

Hi dntews,

 

I would like to try to help, but have a few questions:

 

1. When you say Word, is that MS Word or Wordpad?

2. Is it only Excel you cannot print from or are there others (webpages, pdfs, etc.)?

3. What error messgae do you get when trying to assign the printer as default under Control Panel?

 

Any information you can provide may help with a resolution.
