Thanks for the additional info.
Before proceeding with what I have below, are others that use the same device able to duplex?
If they can't, it may that the device is not recognizing the duplexer. If they can, it seems isolated to your system.
I've been looking to try and find and easy way to get the driver version you have installed. I can't find it. There is possibility that removing and reinstalling the driver, didn't leave the driver in an ok. state.
One thing you could try is uninstalling again, and downloading the latest driver from HP.
Remove all the SW using Add Remove Programs.
The way I have been told to completely remove the driver from Win7: (Other OSs are similar)
In Devices and Printers , Right click the printer and select Remove Device.
Then open Notepad. and do File->Print
Then Right Click on the printers Select Printer area over white space.
You'll get a another set of options, select Server Properties.
Click the driver tab
Select the OfficeJet 6500 driver and then click the Remove Button.
Select Remove Driver and Driver Package, then click o.k.. Click Yes , you really want to do this. You'll likely get another window with a delete button. Click Delete and any others that pop up click o.k..
Reboot your system.
I also ran across this method for removing an OfficeJet Enterprise Driver.
At this point, you can download and reinstall the driver. The driver for the 6500 (E709) and the 6500A (E710) do not appear to be the same driver. I would double check since your screen capture indicated 6500(E709) but the post called out the 6500A.
It really feels at this point like a driver install error and that during install the driver wasn't able to determine that a duplexer was installed.
At this point, the only other option rather than using the latest driver is to see if you can locate the original disk that came with the printer. If you can, install using that disk after your have removed the driver as described above.

Kazman: Have C6180 connected by USB cable to HP desktop PC running Vista. Just installed a duplexer 2 days ago and can do 2-sided printing automatically from desktop. I tried to do 2-sided printing of a document from 2 different HP laptops with Windows 7 but only can do it manually. Under dropdown menu, there is another choice left handed and right handed booklet. Did not select either of those options. Was told by HP tech support that C6180 is not designed for 7. Is there anyway to accomplish 2 sided printing from the notebook? Thanks. Herbzman, I wanted to get back with you. I will look into this but may be a few days before I can get you an answer.
When you installed the printer in Win7, which driver did you use?
What version of Win7 are you running 32bit or 64bit?
Edited: Added additional question.

The duplexer need to be set as "installed" in the Printer Properties. See the Windows 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide here.

Completed a survey in response to posting my problem and turn HP offered free tech support in resolving the problem at no cost even tho my AIO was out of warranty. The tech supporft person took control of my pc in a virtual room and changed the printer settings to duplex so now I can do duplex printing from both notebooks as well as the desktop. Peoblem resolved thanks to HP.

Hi,
Last month, I bought a HP7510 printer was able to use the duplex printing. However, I recently added a new printer HP 6500 A in my laptop(windows 7) and I no longer see the option for double sided printing.
I followed the instruction below and no issues with Step 1. However in Step 2, when the Printing Preference window opens, I don't see a 'Feature' tab(see image below). Does it mean my 7510 driver was overwritten when I installed the 6500A? I don't have the 7510 CD. what can I do?
Pls. help!
Thanks
