Carriage Jam in all in one 5510

I keep getting the carriage jam message despite having fully checked for any issues, as per the website tech support instructions. The printer makes a copy just fine, but at the end of the job, when it's supposed to spit the paper out, it seems to be grabbed tight by the rollers repeatedly, and does this until I gently pull the paper out of the rollers. Then it gives the carriage jam message. I've done all the instructions on the website such as power cycle, opening the back door for removing any paper (there is none), reinstalling the cartridges, etc.

I did notice that normally upon opening the front door, the cartridge carrier (carriage?) has gone to the middle, but it is not now doing that, it stays on the right side.

It used to work fine last week, I haven't made any changes to the computer or setup. I am running Windows Vista.

How do you mark the post as accepted solution? I just printed something and it appears to be working now.

What kind of damage can occur by removing the paper from the front, that I can check for? I've done that before. I'm glad I now know how to remove it from the rear.
