Hi folks,

I would like to help get the printer to respond to print commands. Follow the steps in this link to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this issue.

Please disregard the title of the document as the steps listed are not specific to only the fatal error message not to the Windows XP operating system.

A level-three uninstall is more comprehensive than the add-remove programs uninstall and because you have already done a basic uninstall and reinstall I thought this might be a good approach.

Hope this helps, please let me know.

Hi folks

Just wondering if the steps suggested solved the issue with the Envy 4500?

Thanks

Hi @jmmgp358 and @printinginfo,

I understand that you are having issues trying to install your Envy 4500 printer.

I have included two different links.  The first one is to the driver download page for the Envy 4500.  Please choose your operating system from the drop down menu and then click on the "Next" button.

I have also included the link to the HP Envy 4500 Product "Install / Uninstall Software & Drivers" page.  Most operating systems are listed and have their own install document for a USB connection, while there is one document for the wireless installation with separate sub-sections for the different operating systems. If you are a Windows 7/8 user you can always use HP's Printer Install Wizard to install your printer.

I was trying to install my Envy 4500 today, and I am having the same issue as others in this thread: Can't print. I have run the Printing doctor sevral times, but still no prints. (prints the internal page only)

I was about to connect the USB cable (I am trying to print wireless), when I saw that others have been unsuccesful either by doing so.

Is there any solution to this issue? Do I have to be a rocket scientost to solve this problem? I thought these devices would require a minimum effort from the user to be installe.

At this point (after 4 hours of trying each and every solution)

like many others I tried everything including unsinstalling and reinstalling and nothing worked, I was about to give up when I clicked on the second link in this post which took me to a page that I have been to many times with the downloads etc. I noticed a link on the right saying if I was having difficulty finding my windows 8 driver to use the HP Printer Install Wizard

http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PIW&j...

I ran this which appeared to be very similar to the full install procedure but at the end it came up with another print a test page button, I tried it just to watch the document appear in the queue and then disappear as it had been doing with all other test prints but this one actually worked and the problem so far appears to be fixed!
