Re: HP Photosmart 6510 prints dark

I gather your prints are darker than what you see on your screen.

Go to http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/features.html#Colour_Management for some excellant and helpful articles on colour managment and such. Look for the articles titled "Why don't my prints match my screen?", "Why are my prints too dark?" and "Dark prints revisited". I think these may solve your problem.

If, as the articles suggest, images that are 'light' on your screen print 'dark' then the problem may be more to do with your monitor's calibration.

If you don't have hardware to calibrate you screen go to n "http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/" for a series of steps to calibrate you monitor without hardware. I've found that careful attention, and a little practice, to the instructions at this website yields results that are just about as good as calibration via hardware and software. Actually, as good, unless you're imaging and printing for publication to select audiences via select media. Anyway, with this website you'll find your eys and brain are pretty powerful pieces of hardware and software.

Cheers.

Re: HP Photosmart 6510 prints dark

[ Edited ]

[Content Removed]Calibration of the monitor isn't the issue. The same camera, computer, and software combination worked fine on my Canon printer. There is either an unsolvable problem within the printer itself or there is a setting which needs to be altered. I am seriously considering junking the printer and purchasing another brand.

PLEASE SEND THIS UP THE LINE TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!!

Re: HP Photosmart 6510 prints dark

I just purchased this printer today. I too have a problem with pictures being dark. Last printer printed same pics beautifully until it broke. Trying to print same pictures on this printer and they are dark
