HP5510 do I need to have all 4 cartridges for this printer

can I use an hp 5510 with just a black cartridge or do I have to always have 3 working colour cartridges in place also?

Hello,

• The printer will not work with just One Cartridge with it. 
• You may still print in Black even though the other color cartridges are empty.

Make sure , the Black Cartridge has ink in it :-)

Jabzi- thanks. I asl as with an older HP printer I have- all colours need to be working as if not,  the alignment process wont work - and nither will the printer.

You are right , many of the older hp printers would not work with only  One cartrdige.
