Labels are jamming!

I just got a new Officejet 8600 and it prints great when I print the 8 1/2 x 11 two up label the first time through but when I run it through to print the second time (when one label has been used) it jams. I hate to lose all the labels especially since I bought it for the sole purpose of printing mailing labels and packing slips.

Re: Labels are jamming!

HI,

This might be a problem with the paper back of the labels, usually this is very thin and slippery. SO the printer wil have problems with it when labels are allready of the paper. You could try to start printing from the bottum of the form and work your way up. this might help a little.

Re: Labels are jamming!

That's exactly the problem - my old HP 1200 printed them just fine this way. I always feed with the heavier side first but they jam inside and once messed up the print head so I had to reinstall it. I'm was thinking manual feed might work but since it's jamming inside perhaps that thought is flawed?

Re: Labels are jamming!

Ok, so its not working, I think you might be out of luck in this case, as far as i know these machines are designed to print an entire page at once and you indeeed can get into trouble when re using the same paper for multiple prints that way.

That the old one did i believe, altough that sound like being lucky to me, but that was the good thing about older units, they just printed. Newer machines are more advanced in abilties and quality, but more can go wrong because of this.

Im trying to think of ways to get around this but the only way I can think of this moment is cutting as much of the thin pieces off and setting the paper size to a smaller size. Or perhaph there are smaller sheets of label paper.

Re: Labels are jamming!

If I cut it it would be 5.5" by 8.5" - I can try that. In the future I can print two labels while still "attached" to prevent it but I have about 50 "half" labels left. Thanks for the advice - it's maddening that when you go into a store and tell them EXACTLY what you're doing they say yep...that's going to work fine and then in reality it doesn't.

Re: Labels are jamming!

Hi,,

Sorry that;s the only things i can think of at the moment. Regarding to the store, well it is annoying indeed, always keep in mind that they want to sell you something.

Re: Labels are jamming!

So! I tried the suggestion of changing the size of the paper and it printed the label tiny, tiny so that didn't work. Then I tore the shiny part of the paper off and put it in the tray by itself and left the paper size at 8.5 x 11. That worked!

Re: Labels are jamming!

Hi

you may want to try feeding 1 pc of label at a time to see if you get the same issue.

good luck!
