LaserJet P2015dn drivers

The P2015dn stopped working on a Win XP (updates current) desktop ethernetted through a router. The ethernet indicators on both the printer and router indicate the signal is getting through. Unable to revive it, the drivers were uninstalled.  Now, the drivers will not reinstall. (All else on the computer works properly)  Tried reinstalling the drivers with the printer connected directly to the computer through USB rather than ethernet through the router, still didn't work. The printer works perfectly on my wife's Win XP laptop through its USB, but not wirelessly through the router as it has for years. Thought I'd download drivers directly from HP, but would like to know 1) if the computer should first be scrubbed of all partially loaded drivers and 2) which drivers to download as there are several listed. Would prefer ethernet connection through the router but at this point would be happy with USB to get it back on line. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: LaserJet P2015dn drivers

Hello,

Thanks for the post.  Yes, I would recommend un-installing any previous attempts and start fresh.  I've included a link below with the steps to make this happen.  You could use either PCL5 or PCL6 versions or the Universal Drivers (PCL5/6) as well.  Link to these is below as well.  Good Luck!

Re: LaserJet P2015dn drivers

With apologies for the delay (I've been away) I'll try the solutions you've suggested. Earlier in the process I came across the downloads in your link; the list was a bit overwhelming but I'll start there and give it some thought, and your comment re PCL 5 or 6 is helpful. Been through the install/uninstall routines you outlined, in the sequence you provided , but will do it again very carefully with instructions in hand. Thanks. Will post results.

Re: LaserJet P2015dn drivers

Thanks for your help.

Gave up and had printer looked at by local computer shop. The circuit board is shot! Apparently a common problem with the P2015DN, I've been told to expect neither sympathy nor help from HP.  I'll try today but not optimistic. Somehow this is not surprising; the model does not even come up in their list of machines when you go to the support site to find something. Into the black hole of equipment they'd as soon forget about. Probably better  to get another printer, even though this one prints beautifully (still dumps a perfect  test page) after 90,000 pages. Brand will now be part of the decision.

Re: LaserJet P2015dn drivers

Hello again,

I'm sorry to hear that diagnosis.  I thought we may be able to recover it.  I've included a couple of links below that may help with the support experience.  The 2015dn was a very popular printer for us, a little workhorse.  Please keep us in mind if/when you are making another purchase decision, we do stand by our products and want you to have the best experience that we can provide.  Good Luck!

Re: LaserJet P2015dn drivers

It has been a workhorse for us - 89,600 pages in 4 years - and I hate to see it go. It's still here. Don't know if there's any firmware on the board, but knowing how much it costs (via one of the links you provided) gives me an idea how muchitI should cost to have repaired, or if I can do it myself. I'll keep working on it. In the mean time , we're making do, as we must, with a back up. Thanks you for your help.
