My HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one will not print text correctly in Black, color prints fine.

My HP Photosmart C5180 All-in One will not print black text without being faded out or streaks in text. Will print color text fine.

Have tried all the "fixes" you list and more. The printer will print fine on my old PC using Windows XP and was working fine on my

new PC using Windows 7 till recently.

Please DON'T tell me to ...Reinstall, get new driver, install new cartridge, clean or align print heads, different paper or go to "solutions"..Etc..Etc.  I'VE ALREADY BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT!

All you "fixes" finish with"service the device".......JUST WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES THAT MEAN!!!!

This has  been one fine printer for over 5 years, but some little glitch is messing me up when using the BLACK INK ?

Re: My HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one will not print text correctly in Black, color prints fine.

Hi dickers,

Welcome to the HP Consumer Printer Forums!

Usually, once all troubleshooting steps have been performed, the last step reads something like this:

Step four: Contact HP

If you have completed all the preceding steps and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
Determine if your product is in warranty or out of warranty. If you need help determining your product’s warranty status, go to HP’s Warranty Check Tool .

  • If your product is in warranty , contact HP.
  • If your product is out of warranty , click here to view additional printer support options starting as low as $20.

What this means is that normal troubleshooting is unable to resolve the issue and the device needs to be serviced by a technician. To do this, the device is usually sent or taken to a repair center by the customer (you), or a technician comes out to fix it.

Since you seem to be getting to the point in troubleshooting where it is telling you to "service the device", I would recommend following the instructions to do so.

:smileyhappy: If I have helped in any way, just click the Kudos star on the left. Also, if your issue has been resolved, don't forget to select Accept as Solution :smileyhappy:

Re: My HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one will not print text correctly in Black, color prints fine.

Gordon,

Thanks for the reply, didn't expect one but what you are telling us all is that we need to buy another printer if we have done all the "fixes" ,etc.....etc......for you know that taking a printer to a repair shop is going to cost more

then buying a new one.

Telling me to check on the warraty page of HP when I already told you that the unit is 5 years old was dumb.

But I do thank you for the reply.........even if it was a joke!
