I have the printer contected wirelessly to my laptop (also HP), but everytime I start up the printer, the port it is connecting through has changed from the settings in the laptop. The only way I can find the port is to print a wireless report - which is a waste of ink/paper. Is there a way to force the port to remain unchanged (preferably), or to find out the port number without printing. I don't have any other wireless devices, so there is no reason I can see for the change.

Yep. You can set a static IP on the printer and it will be forced to keep the same IP address until you tell it to change. This document has the steps you need for the static IP plus some other steps to stabilize the printer's wireless connection. Let me know what happens.

Thanks. Took me a while to try this, and hopefully it will work now. I'll come back if I need more assistance.
