I have just installed an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, and have been trying to print a 4.5 x 6.5 inch size. But this option is not in the available paper size list, and I have no option of creating a custom size. After googling, I found a thread in here that recommended trying another driver. I did, and was able to create a custom size. But when trying to print, the printer immediately displays 'cancelling print', and nothing happens (no error message on my computer or on the printer).
I tried a couple of other drivers, but either they don't work or Word ends up freezing when I try entering printer preferences.
Does anyone know of a driver that works on an OfficeJet Pro 8600 that also allows definition of custom paper sizes? Or any other good suggestions?

Hi,
Please try installing the HP Deskjet 6980 Alternate driver and then try printing. Most of the times, this would resolve the issue.

Try using 4.49 x 6.38 custom size, this is basically called as Envelope C6 custom size type in the Printer Driver.
If you are giving a print then first try to set Print Option from the document print options to Envelope C6 and hit print from the document.
Also, you can install a Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (UPD PCL6) or a Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript (UPD PS), incase you don't have a Universal Print Driver
Please find the link to download the drivers mentioned above.
For UPD PCL6 :

Please send Kudos if you are satisfied with this suggestion.

I also tried a few other drivers that I can't recall the name of, they also resulted in either cancelled printout, or frozen Word or just not accessible at all.

Hey susieiv,
I see you are looking for how to swap to an alternate driver for your Mac OS. Please review the thread by Shane_R on how to perform this action.
