Software cannot find printer HP Photosmart C5280

My All in One printer HP Photosmart C5280 repeatedly is not recognized after re-installs by means of the latest available driver for the complete software package. Log info says that Flash9b.ocx (Macomed) doesn't register. However the printer itself is well installed and working. HP Solution Centre is closing any time I try to use it.

Hello obnaj, 

Please execute the below command ..

1. Click on START > RUN 
2. In RUN type in CMD , a command prompt window will open
3. In command prompt type in   CD\ and press enter key.
4. Now type the below command in prompt

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash9b.ocx

And then Restart the PC .  Try opening Solution Center, let me know the result.

Thanx for your quick answer!

I tried twice but unfortunately it didn't yet work out.

Don't know if it's relevant, but does it make sense to re-install, now that we corrected this flah9b.ocx problem? I ask you because time and again installation was not completely fullfilled and stopped at 96%. Then I followed the instructions on the self support pages, but these didn't help me out.

Good afternoon obnaj,

Please perform the below steps which should resolve the issue ...

1. Click on START > RUN 
2. In RUN type in %temp%, a TEMP window will open
3. Locate for folder name starting with 7z.. Double click to open.
4. Open the UTIL  folder
5. Open the CCC folder
6. Double click on  Uninstall_L3.bat, which would start the uninstallation . Let it complete.
7. After uninstalltion , the computer would restart.
8. Now we need to download the flash uninstaller using the below link .  follow the instructions in the page ...

 FlashUninstallerInstaller .

9. After the Flash plugin is installed, then restart the PC.

10. Run the Printer software either sing the CD or the Downloaded version ( refer step 1 to 3, then locate and double click on setup.exe.

Hopefully you should now be able to install the printer software successfully.

Thanx for your clear info on the steps to follow.

However I'm sorry to tell you that the installation failed once more at 96 % of the over-all process (fase 4/4 configuering the device) . Like before an installation report with some code was made up and sent to you. Last one was more extent, I must say. This time I made a screenshot of it, which I intended to send to you but now I see that's not  possible.

For the sake of good order I have to tell you that I know other ways to use the all-in-one C5280 are available on my computer so I can print, copy and scan, be it outside the HP Solutions Centre ..... And also that before this Centre used to function properly.

Whatelse can we do to make that Center function?

Hello obnaj,

You may give a try to the below step which would enable you to open the root file for scanning .

Double Click on MY Computer > Program Files > HP > Digital Imaging > Bin

Locate for file hpiscnapp.exe , right click on it  > Send to  > Desktop ( as shortcut ) .

Double click the hpiscnapp shortcut , which should open the interface for scan, almsot similar to HP Solution center.

Hi Jabzi,

That scanning shortcut is one of the alternatives I had already found myself and as I wrote earlier I can manage printing, scanning and copying without the HP Solution Center.

By the way: when executing your last instructions about the Flashuninstallerinstaller I saw that it only uninstalled whereas I thought it would install after it first uninstalled (as the name of it made me suppose) automatically. So after the Flashplayer uninstall I myself installed Flashplayer manually. Was that the correct thing to do?

what you did was correct by installing the flash. After which the printer software had to be installed.

Well, Jazbi, so we have to conclude that installing the latest complete C5280 software/driver download on my computer apparently is impossible, so I go on without the "HP Solution Centre" .

I don't see  the  "Accept as Solution" button nor do I see the "Kudos" button accompany your reply and that's right in this case.

Nevertheless I thank you once more for your attention.
