continually get messages paper jam, paper skewed, alignment failed

When I tried to print an envelope I received a couple of different error messages. I think the first one was out of paper, then paper jam. I tried to align cartridge and received the message allignment failed skewed paper. I tried reinstalling the ink cartridge, loading and unloading the paper, removed and replace the paper tray. Help, please.

I find tise screen very difficult to read. How  to I change the background from black to white?

I can print pages. It only seems to happen when I try to print envelopes. Message (only envelope in paper tray): out of paper. When I load paper under the envelope message is: paper jam.
