where have the desktop icons gone Win7

installed new software for OJ 6500A  E710.  The shortcut/icons for the printer and HP scan are gone.  they don't work from the Programs list.  Printer work fine.

My computer was recently replaced and I've reinstalled the driver for my Officejet 6500 and connected to my wireless network. Everything appears to work fine except the HP icon that allows me to select scan/print/fax, etc. is missing and is not in the program list for HP. I've installed "OJ6500vE709_Full.exe" three times and still no icon. I cna't find help on the HP website.
