3050A - Only Partial Scan Appearing

Help!!  I am trying to scan my passport and it doesn't seem to matter where I place it on the scanner, only a partial snapshot is showing.  I made a photocopy which turned out just fine and didn't move the passport and then scanned.  Only half showed up.  I've probably scanned from 10 different spots on the glass and I can't get it!!  I even tried scanning the copy and only a partial showed up for that too.  Any suggestions?
