8500 Fax and Copy Issue

I just purchased an office Pro 8500 wireless All-In-One 2 days ago.

I am having an issue with fax and copying.  Almost every time I try to fax or copy multiple pages through the auto feeder, the scanner seems to miss one page.  I pay close attention to make sure the sheets are not stuck together or doubled up when feeding through the auto feeder; they ARE feeding properly.  For instance: the documents are feeding through the auto feeder one at a time and if I'm copying five or six pages I will receive copies minus one page (like the scanner skips a page somehow; it could be the second page,it could be the last page it could be the third or the second to last page; it varies.

I've owned several HP printers in the past; the last one being a 3380 All In One.  I've never had anything like this happen.

Does anybody else have the same issue?  Is there a solution or adjustment that can be easily tweaked?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

I'm having the same problems. Hp sent me a replacement unit but it did the same thing plus it did'n copy my pictures right. They had a pinkish tint to them. I sent the unit back and waisted to much time with Fedex to take the printer back to Office Depot. I think most every one is having the same problem with scanning, faxing and coping. there are a lot of complaints out there on this printer. I just wish I had known before I bought this model as I have had no problems with any of my other HP products. HP doesn't seem to have an answer or maybe they just don't care.

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

I have the exact same issue!  HP also sent me a new printer and it also has the same problem.  on the HP support page it says that they know about the issue and have no solution!  That's crazy!  i use the machine to run a small business and it's embarrasing that every time i send a fax, not all pages go through.  i wish HP would either fix the problem or send me a new printer that works!

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

I would agree that this behavior is unacceptable.  Here's the link to the hp support page.  It does suggest reseting the device to fix the problem.

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

Now when I scan to email I never have an issue with pages being skipped by the scanI also notice that the LCD screen is accurate with the page count, showing: scanning page 1; then page 2; then page 3.... where as fax to fax or copy mode the LCD screen will only show "Now Copying: Page 1/1" through the entire copy or fax process of multiple page; never counting each page being scanned.

I also notice that the scanning process is slower in fax to email than it is for fax to fax or copy mode which may contribute to none of the documents being missed when faxed to email and many documents missed in fax to fax and copy mode.

This All In One is such a great office tool and great idea!!!  There has to be a simple fix for this like a firmware update or scanning speed adjustment....something. This problem is BIG for the business I run

HP YOU NEED TO RESPOND HERE TO THIS MAJOR FLAW SOON...Like, "We are working on it."or "Screw you customer; we don't care about our quality."  SOMETHING!  :smileywink:

I will be taking this one back for another and if I have the same problem or no response to this problem we are having here there will be negative feedback at major retail forums. :smileysad:

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

Mike800,

Are you saying that fax to email works, no skipped pages, and fax to fax, and fax to copy skip pages?

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

That is correct.  I tested this over and over again.  When sending multiple pages though the auto feeder to email - flawless.  When sending multiple pages through the feeder to fax to another fax machine or to simply copy it would always miss a random page.

As a side not I ended up checking the firmware update and it was up to date.  So I exchanged it for another 8500 wireless from the store I bought the defective one from and so far it has not missed any pages yet (that's huge).  I really love the features of the 8500 wireless so I gave it another try hoping that I possibly had bought one from a bad batch. So far so good.

I'll be running it through its paces come the start of next week; we'll see.......

Thanks for responding scandroid!

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

Well I have copied two sets of pages consisting of 8 pages through the auto feederThis second 8500 wireless that I exchanged at Best Buy still skips a page everytimeMajor problem especially when faxing to clients.

I will be notifying tech support, returning this one for good and purchasing a Brother MFC 6890CDW AllI In On.

To bad....Great All In One otherwise.

Re: 8500 Fax and Copy Issue

I too am having this same problem. up until this point I believed that this was the perfect machine for my small business. Now I appear inept to anyone I wish to send a fax to. Any response from technical support on the issue?
