8600 Plus, why did I go HP?

I decided to go HP from Brother, well after 2 hrs working with it i have determined the software sucks.

1 - Windows 7 64 ultimate - very clean PC, cant scan to it.. It constantly fails the scan diag and scan dr

I can print fine.  Disabled firewalls etc, zip..

2- on my Mac 10.7.3 I cant even edit my scan settings, it closes unexpectidly..but I can scan to computer on that one, just cant make any changes to it!

ALL HP software is up todate, current firmware on printer.. 

Why does it have to be this hard?

Ok,  I am much cooler now..  Just frustrating when you buy new and takes 3 hrs to make it work.

On the mac, I found a patch for this

On windows, it turnd out to be my WIA service, it was running but the account it was using was not correct.. 

Anyways I am up and running.
