All the HP Scanner Problems!

I have the earlier post referring to Photosmart C6180.  What is happening with all the reports of scanner problems?

Is anyone at HP aware of all the people with scanner problems?  Is anyone at HP trying to solve these problems or are all of us just going to keep installing/unstalling  without any solution in sight?

Am I frustrated and upset.......you bet!

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

I'm with YOU!  Frustrated is putting it mildly!  Is it Vista incompatibility...is it HP? Regardless, why on earth isn't HP doing something to remedy the issues without our having to uninstall and reinstall, uninstall and reinstall.  I only bought the Officejet J6450 so I could do mulitple page B&W documents, but I still can't do it even after several times of following the "solution" to resolve the problem!  Then my computer crashed so I bought a new HP notebook with vista 64 bit OS.  Now I can't even go back to my old printer because it's not compatible with Vista...AND it's a whole other issue with a 64 Bit OS!  I thought I was getting some advantage with the 64 bit feature...NOT...so far it's just another headache.  I'm not a happy camper with HP right now! :smileymad:

So does HP monitor these forums to bring solutions or is it just a support group for therapy venting??

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

I'm with you 100%, having spent countless hours on HP chat or tech support calls trying to get their software to do what it's supposed to do, scanning to PDF without the high-res OCR overhead. But don't expect much HP presence here (amazingly):

Yeah, it's nice to have a place to vent, but it would be nice to have resolutions from HP.

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

Why do you have a big problem with HP when you ask a simple question about a scanner problem ?  All I want to know is why my G4050 has suddenly stopped scanning slides correctly, and why the software doesn,t find the scanner on the computer.

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

I'm glad to hear it's not just me.  I have Vista Premium 32 bit and I am having the same problem.  I have used this printer with Vista successfully for over 1 year and been able to scan up until mid December, now I can print and copy but I can't scan anything.  I have also uninstalled/reinstalled many times with no success.  Does HP want us to buy other printer brands?

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

I am another one. Al I get from HP is a copy of the basic instructions.  No help that can tell me why my G4050 only scans pictures and documents.  When scanning slides and film, all I get is junk.  Come on HP, get with the program and help your customers....

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

frankandpeggy,

Can you please answer the following questions:

1) What OS are you running?

2) Are you running the software that shipped with the product or are you using software downloaded from the web?

Could you please post an example of what the 'junk' scan looks like?

Thanks...

I work for HP, but these words are mine alone.

Re: All the HP Scanner Problems!

OS Windows Vista Home Premium(64?)

I just tried scanning slides last night and had a problem also. I noticed the news 2010 software and driver so I downloaded it and started the install and it froze.

I went into the Add/remove programs area (sorry I know it's not called that anymore) and noticed there was some old hp stuff in there so I removed everything including printer driver. I had to restart a few times during removal but after it was all done and after the final restart I installed the newest software/driver from HP and everything is working fine. It's got a new look and feel but it did the slides fine.

Hope this helps, sorry if it doesn't
