B210 all in one. wont scan. prints and copies but no scan.

B210 all in one.  Windows Vista.  error message"start from computer"..make sure the printer installed properly.  no changes made to the system.  I have scanned many times, not in a few months, but all of a sudden this message comes up.  I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling.  i can print and copy and even print wirelessly, but no scan.  i hit the scan button and then computer and that error message comes up.  what can i do?
