Hi , i have a photosmart c4180 which has been working fine , recently i tried to scan a document but keep getting an error message come up which stops me - "an error occured with the scanning device please ensure the device is connected properly and try again" when i check the status it says c4180 connected and is waiting and when i try another function like printing it works fine too ? can anyone help me with this problem i have windows xp and all the relevent software and drivers installed (i'm told) thanks in advance for your help

You might try the following utility - HP Scan Diagnostic Utility. It something that might help solve the problem or at least diagnose it. If it doesn't solve the problem please post the results it might contain clues about what is going wrong.
