C7280 - All in 1 - Scanning Problem

I have been on the support chat line for hours.  I can't scan at all.  Everything else works, but when I press the button to scan it freezes?  I've tried everything that support has asked me to do, but still not able to scan.  Does anyone have a solution?  Help !!

You did not say how you have the all in one connected or what operating systems you have so I hope I can help you out here.  I have this printer also running on Vista Home Premium, 64bit OS on Touchsmart IQ504 connected by ethernet cable.  I had to install/uninstall 4/5 time before I got everything loaded and then did updates to the drivers via HP web site. Select download drivers & software then type in your printer C7280, look for your operating system then click on the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE AND DRIVERS.  If you have to uninstall/reinstall again MAKE SURE you do EVERYTHING  word for word by the book. DO NOT CONNECT the printer to your computer until install tells you to.  I hope this helps you.  Please let me know if it does.

I have windows XP.  The scanner is connected via a USB cable.  I've been dealing with support for 2 nights now.  Nothing can get my scanner to work porperly.  Everything else works on my C7280 all in one, but not the scanner.  There is something wrong with the software.  It took me such a long time to unistall and reinstall.  Still not working. Does anyone have a patch???  A solution....I'd like to send it back to them, or get them to send me another software program that works.

There are critical updates listed for this printer under both xp & xp x64 did you install them???

There are more than one way to do scan, do you mean scan doesn't work at all or only the scan button on the device doesn't work?

 

1. You can scan from the HP solution center, click scan

2. press the "scan" button on the device - you need to set up the scan "destinations" first for this to work, especially when the device has been installed (on this computer or other computer) before.

3. from other apps like Paint, do "import image" or "aquire image" if these apps support WIA or TWAIN.

 

If only the Scan button is not working, it could be it was not "configured" properly, I would first check on the device's "setup", if there are any "scan to" destinations, because when you push that "scan" button, you can scan to email, scan to word document, etc, if a list is there, it will let you select one, if the list is empty, it wouldn't know what to do.

 

If there is a "scan to" list, did you choose one after press the "scan" button? could be it's waiting you to make that selection...
