I have been on line with HP experts for 2 days now. Have uninstalled and reinstalled many times but still get the same error message when I try to scan "unexpected internal error". The printer works fine. I am using Vista.
ANY SUGGESTIONS ?
Thanks

I have spent two days trying to figure out why, all of a sudden, I can not scan to my C4280 All in One Printer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, I have downloaded the updated driver...rebooted...what next? I still get a "communication" error message. I have Vista 32 bit for an operating system. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?

For Vista
Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Accessories .
Click Paint .
Click File , and then click From Scanner or Camera .
Click Scan .
XP
>Click Control Panel
>Click Printers and Other Hardware
>Click Scanners and Cameras
>Double click on HP Printer Icon
>Click Next then you should be able to scan manually
MAC
To scan an image:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Print & Fax.
Double-click your Scanner in the list at the left.
Click Scanner.
Choose how to scan your images:
If you have a document-feeding scanner:
Scanning pages with a document-feeding scanner
If you have a flatbed or transparency scanner:
Scanning images with a flatbed scanner
