Cannot find scanned document

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 909a,  I am using Vista os.  When I scan an item I cannot find it in my computer.  I have tried the search function and it appears to be nowhere in the system.  I tried to download the patch that HP offered and it will not run.  Anyone have any ideas what I can do to alleviate this frustration?

Re: Cannot find scanned document

I have the same problem on my hp Officejet 6500n running Viste 32-bit. Was working fine, but now all my scans disappear and I cannot find them. reinstalled software, ran scan diagnostics, all to no avail. Very frustrating to have it all of a sudden quit working properly and no solution seems to work. I also downloaded the Windows 7 fix but that got me nowhere. Does not install since I am running Vista. Cannot find a fix for this problem.

Re: Cannot find scanned document

Good luck! I would hate to have to leave the HP family of products as they have served me well over the years. All-In-One scanning has been an ongoing issue for me. I may go your route if I can't find a resolution.

Re: Cannot find scanned document

When I scan a document I follow the lollowing steps. When HP Solutions opens I select "Scan Document".

I then select "Scan Document Menu". I then review the choices on the right side.

"Scan Type" [Document (Glass or Feeder)];

"Output Type" [Black and White]

"Scan To" [this box is blank]

"File Type" [ I normally use PDF-Searchable (*.pdf)

"Save Options" [ D:\Documents\My Scans]  (It makes no difference if I change the destination. Nothing shows up)

I then slick on "Scan" and then "Finish". The pop-up box shows the file being saved to D:\Documents\My Scans

The "My Scans" folder is EMPTY.

This just started out of the blue. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled printer and software several times to no avail.

Re: Cannot find scanned document

This is exactly the issue I was having.  I went onto the HP website and downloaded the patch (it took 33 minutes).  After downloading it I ran it.  A message popped up that said this patch will not repair problem.  So much for HP's great service.  As I mentioned above, the perfect resolution is I ordered and Epson .  I was going to order a new HP computer also, but I will be looking at other systems now.

Re: Cannot find scanned document

I also downloaded a so called "patch". It said that it addressed this problem in Windows 7, Vista, and XP. I am running Vista 32-bit. The patch would not install. I tried it twice. It seems that it only installs in Windows 7.

Again, good luck with the Epson. I have not had an Epson since the 1980's when it had a roller and perforated paper. Some of those old machines are still in use.
