HP Scan doctor reports 'Cannot communicate with printer device" upon test scan. Scan Doctor reports that devices pass all tests except HP Twain Scan as process was cancelled by user (!!! - I did no such thing). I have turned all devices and router off and on, turned off blocking firewall software etc, etc, etc. How do I resolve HP Twain Scan issue?

I'd suggest you to uninstall the printer software.
Check for OS updates and install them.
Download the software by visiting http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
However there are alternatives to scanning using HP Printer software....
1> You may key in the printer IP address in to a browser ( IE or firefox ). And scan using WEBSCAN feature.
2> or Scan using MS Paint.

Thanks, Jabzi, the Webscan solution workds for a text scan, but I am trying to scan and crop pictures and don't see how to do that with webscan. The issue seems to be with HP Twain Scan. Do you know if there is a rix or reload of this software or driver?
