Cannot scan using "Scan a document or photo" - PhotoSmart D110 Series

[ Edited ]

I have a photosmart D110 series printer and my operating system is Windows 7, 64 bit.  I have had the printer since November 2011.  In the past I have been able to scan from the SCANNER ACTIONS section of the HP Photosmart D110 Series Screen.  A couple days ago when I clicked on "Scan a document or photo", I got a message that says "Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000015).  The device is not ready."  I have tried various things to fix the issue. First, I tried restarting the computer.  That did nothing to help.  Then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.  That did not help.  Next, I tried installing updates from the HP website.  That did not help.  I still get the same error message.   I am able to scan if I go through the solution center, but that is a slower more tedious process.  I would like to be able to scan from the SCANNER ACTIONS section again.  Can you help resolve the issue?

I have the same issue with my HP Photosmart D110 Series printer.  There is another way to use the scanner.  Go to HP Solution Center.  Make sure that you are on the HOME screen.  You should have an option there to "Scan Picture" or "Scan Document."  Click on one of those and you should be able to scan.  This has worked for me.
