when i click on the icon ,,, hp deskjet 2050 j510 series scan ... the ... hpscan.exe ... starts to run and then it just stops ...
can anyone help me ??

Try uninstalling and reinstalling using the download. The executable may have gotten corrupted some how.

I tried what you suggested ... uninstall / install (using download) ... and the same problem is there ...

I want to take a look at your systems info. What OS are you running? What processor do you have? How much RAM do you have?

I am using xp home edition ...
i uninstalled and reinstalled and still have problem ...
I have NOT done any maint. to system ...

What processor are you running?
How much RAM do you have?

system = windows xp / home edition / version 2002 / service pack 3
computer = intel (r) / pentium (r) 4 cpu / 2.20 ghz / 2.19 ghz / 512 mb of ram

Try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to see what might be causing the error. If it can the good doctor will even try to fix the problem. Let me know what happens.

I ran the hp scan doctor and it told me to uninstall and reinstall (using download) and the problem is still there ...

Something strange is going on. At this point I'm going to have to refer you to call into tech support, if you're in warranty. You can check your warranty status here. The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 in the U.S. and Canada. International users click here. If your out of warranty, tech support will have to charge you for help. Let me know what happens. I'm going to keep digging around for more information on what could be causing this failure. If I find something, I'll post it here.
