Hi!

Are you sure you are using usb 2.0 port? I had problems when connected to usb 3.0

Started to work when tried different usb-ports... Running win xp 32bit

IT'S ALIVE! I mean, it works.

Didn't even remember i had USB 3.0 ports on my motherboard. Just checked the manual and apparently it was connected on one, swapped to a 2.0 port and works just fine. Thanks!!

No problem!

In HP:s troubleshooter there was something about trying different usb-ports, but the difference between usb2.0 and usb 3.0 wasn't there.

maybe it's time to update drivers to work with usb 3.0, it's not customer friendly to leave something so common unfixed. Or type in package "only for usb 2.0"

Yes, it will copy and print.

I ran the utility; connectivity and device manager check out OK, but it fails on the WIA check with the message "...unable to scan with the Windows Imaging service.", and some steps to try and fix the problem, all of which I've tried to no avail.

I also tried other USB ports as suggested elsewher ein this thread, but that's not worked either. Im pretty sure I only have USB 2 ports anyway, and have tried them all. Even tried a different cable and no joy there either (both cables are stamped as USB 2).

I dont have a webcam plugged in or installed - all im using is USB mouse & keyboard and speakers plugged to the sound card.

Your help is appreciated.

Try installing the printer on a different computer, and then let me know if you have the same issues?

Yes, I tried everything so far suggested, but it hasnt helped. 

Ive tried installing on another computer, but get the same issue. 

The other computer is running windows 7 32bit and this one is running windows 7 32bit.

I have same problem for Deskjet 2050 on Win XP. Scan Doctor says WIA not OK. On another WIN XP PC same cable and same scanner works fine.

I followed passes for check WIA. All services indicated are started. Only difference is that under WIA i Have only RPC dependency (without other services).

Some suggestions?
