HP 3050 J610 series OCR possible

Hi there

My former HP printer (HP1610) had the possibility to scan with OCR. Now I have the Deskjet HP3050 and I can't find anywhere this same possibility. Am I looking on the wrong places, or doesn't have the 3050 this feature?

Hé Gordon2, Thanks for your support. I have to be honest, I've seen this page before. But thanks to your reply I read the possible OCR software and I downloaded SimpleOcr and FreeOcr to try and both are capable enough to scan with OCR. It is not full recognizing, but good enough for now. It's a pitty that HP doesn't give the ocr with their package for Deskjet 3050.

Hi, OCR is not included with this HP Deskjet 3050 printer software package, however, we can install OCR which is part of other printer s/w package. Follow below instructions:

1) Download and save the driver package using below link. The package is for HP OJ Pro 8500A A910n printer

Note: Select the operating system from the drop down menu and download the Full Feature Software. 

2) Once downloaded, start the installation. Uncheck all the options except "IRIS OCR". Two options will be greyed out so not to worry abt that

3) When the connection screen appears, select "Connect Later" and finish the installation Process.

4) Now open HP Deskjet 3050 scan window. Select "Everyday Scan" and from the drop down menu for "File Type" select "RTF" or "Searchable PDF"

5) Try scanning

Once you are okay with the results, open Control Panel ==> Add/Remove Programs (Programs and features). Uninstall the entries which has name for HP OJ 8500 printer

followed all the steps for download.

where do i get -

If I press scan I still get jpeg tiff etc. no PDF
