HP 6500 Wireless does not scan

I ran the utility, and it couldn't even find the connection. So I didn't get too far.

I've got the printer connected to an Airport Extreme router (via ethernet) which I'm running off of Win XP SP3. I'm guessing that's several problems right there for a start. But is the scanner usable in this scenario?

Yes, you can scan even if you have an Ethernet connection. Scan supports Wireless, Ethernet & USB

PCWizard, yes, ironically, I just figured it out myself. I wasn't familar with the solution center settings menu but it was self evident when I looked into it.

So to summarize:

I can now see my printer from the computer and see the computer from the printer. I can scan fromeither  the computer or the printer. I can scan as pdf or jpg.  I am still on version13 and right now don't plan to upgrade.

I had to clean twice. The first time the solutions center could see the printer, the second time the printer could see the computer.  I was able to do it without using the USB cable, I just did it all wirelessly.

Note that clearly nothing was wrong with my printer, my router, my network , or probably my computer.  There was something wrong with the software.

This would not have been possible without PCWizard.  No one on the phone could have figured it out and he deserves as much credit as any one individual I have ever met.

I am finally getting the time to focus on resolving my printer/scanner issues.  I am following the instructions in message 93 but when I run %temp% there is no founder starting with 7z.  Any suggestions?

You can insert the original CD and cancel the autorun, and then navigate to the Util\CCC\uninstallL4.

I did a full scan and I have 7 files that start with 7z.  I will do the Starter CD but wonder if I should erase the 7 files that I found?

Hi SonomaRose,

The %temp% can be cleared without affecting your computer. It is just a temporary storage location for files that get extracted. Note there might be some files in use just chose to skip them.

I also had several directorties starting with 7Z, and I looked in each of them until I found one with a util subdirectory.  It only appears if you've done a full software install or a partial driver install all the way through.
