HP Color Laserjet 2840 Feeder Mispick Won't Scan From Top Tray [ Edited ]

Hello,

All of a sudden, my HP Color Laserjet 2840 will not feed paper from the top tray for faxing or scanning and I've been having to scan everything in one at a time from the glass. My one year warranty has expired, so HP support won't help me, but this was a very expensive printer and I just paid over $500 for new part replacements. I recently replaced the small grey foam tab under the hinge for the top feeder, but it still has not fixed the problem. When I put a small stack of papers in the top tray, it will read "document loaded." When I push black, to copy, it sounds like it's trying to grab the papers and then it reads "document feeder mispick, reload." I've tried turning the printer off and on, opening up the top compartment, etc etc. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Scanning over 40 pages by hand individually is getting old very fast. I'm having the same problem is occurr3ed after I cleared a paper jamb.
