This all worked fine until I had to have a new router and after re-installing the HP 3050 wireless printer I can no longer scan from my computer. It should be noted that on my other computer it has installed correctly in Vista and I can scan and print normally.
When I click on the HP Scan software either on the desktop or from the program menu it gives an error box saying "HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series was not found"
I've run the HP Scan Diagnostics software and it just says that no scanner are installed. But I installed the software from the CD as I did the first time I had the printer and I didn't do anything different this time when I changed the router over so why won't it scan?
Can anyone help?

The problem was that I'd installed the BASIC drivers and not the FULL software.
But this might help other users in the future. Uninstall and then download and install the FULL software and all should work fine.

To correct the problem, did you have to delete the printer and start all over?
What option did you use to make sure you got it right the second time around?

I deleted the software for the 3050, and reinstalled the printer.
I am still getting the same error.
A previous message talked about installing the basic software. I did not see any options that talked about any special option. Can you point me in the right direction as to installing other than the basic.

Follow this link
and select which Operating system you are using then under the section of Driver - Production Installtion Software and Driver select the HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers.
You should be ok from there on in.
Remember to have complete uninstalled the software / drivers for the printer before you start down this route.

I downloaded what the site calles the full version, reinstalled the software, but during the install it still shows as the basic version. What am I doing wrong?

That is very strange as I've tested it and I also downloaded the full version of the software on a virtual Vista and I got the basic drivers - so there must be something wrong with the download link.
All that I can suggest is use the CD which came with the printer as it will have the full software on it or contact HP support directly and ask them how to get the full drivers for this printer.
