HP Director & PSC 2510 TWAIN drivers do not work

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I have a PSC 2510 Photosmart AiO on my ACER Aspire 2003WLMi laptop with Windows XP Home SP3 Genuine, Office 2003 Pro SP3, Acrobat Pro 7.1 & HP drivers 4.2.0 with all latest fixes & patches.

My problem with HP Director is similar to IE7 bug wich was solved few monthes ago, but this time is more strange. After updating my Windows to latest November updates & Acrobat Pro 7.0.9 to 7.1, the HP Director is running in memory without application's window on screen. Pressing "alt + space", "minimize" & "restore" HP Director's window appears with a blank screen. Trying to scan via panel, the scanning window appears blanky, too. Scanning is able ony bypassing HP TWAIN drivers via Windows Scanner & Camera Wizard.

No printing problems. Just another HP Director bug.

Any idea?

Re: HP Director & PSC 2510 TWAIN drivers do not work

Since windows SP3 is an latest release there are some bugs which are yet to be resolved by HP, however we can try to open the HP Director by locating the file hpqdirec.exe from C:\Program files\HP\Digital imaging\Bin path and then double click on the hpqdirec file to open the HP Director and then see if there are all the options listed there, if you only want to scan then you need to search the file hpqscnvw.exe from the same path as above. You need to double click on the file hpqscnvw to start the scan from the computer.

Re: HP Director & PSC 2510 TWAIN drivers do not work

Thank you for supplying the screens GR, the issue seems to be with the SP3 installed on your system as you are unable to scan from the Operating system itself. I can suggest you one more thing to try, that is to uninstall the complete All-in-One software and then try to install the Full feature software from the following web link:

Full feature software for XP operating system

Click on the above web link and open the page, then click on download only button and save the file on your desktop.

Then double click on the downloaded file to start the installation, but before starting the install be sure that you have uninstalled the previous All-in-One software installed on your system and you have restarted the system after uninstallation.

Try this solution and let us know the result if it worked or not.

Re: HP Director & PSC 2510 TWAIN drivers do not work [SOLVED]

A month later... Problem SOLVED itself!!! All this time I didn't do anything, neither uninstall/install HP AIO software. Hadn't time and I was waiting Christmas period to find some. Also, as i mentioned above, i was able to scan via MS Scanner & Camera Wizard. Now the problem SOLVED itself! By just installing latest IE patches from Microsoft: KB958215 & KB960714. ---- PS. Same problem with MS Media Player 11 running in background without window on screen is solved by installing these latest patches: KB955839, KB956802, KB952069, KB954600. Don't blame HP this time. Bill Gates' garbages sucks too.
