I've been using my LaserJet 2840 for over a year with relatively few problems, via a LAN running on Windows 2000. I recentlly upgraded my Router and Modem to a combined unit and although I can't atribute my problem directly to that change, nothing else comes to mind. The problem, is that I've lost access to the ToolBox. When I select it, it should gain access to the internet, but now all I get is a "Failed to connect" error message.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the works from th original discs and also from the downloaded versions, but to no avail.
I can still print to the unit, and I can copy (I don't use the FAXing feature at all), but I can't SCAN, because I can't get to the settings, which must be applied via Toolbox.
Could there be a Firewall issue involved. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have the same problems. For more than a year the printer works fine. last week the scan function didn't work anymore. I didn't upgrade the sotware from the modem or the firewaal so than can't be the problem. I always use the option "scan to" but the HP solution center also doensn't work anymore. The toolbox still functioning (127.0.0.1:5225) but if i go to the tab Scan properties and use the option scan to then i get a failure (the software can't make an connection) After deinstalling the software, an register cleaning (vista manager) i installed the software again. The problem still exist.
I find it very odd because in the computer enviroment doesn't change anything (But i downloaded and installed the microsoft patches from 13 october)
Does anyone have a solution?

I used "Vista manager" (from yamicsoft) to uninstall the software. I choose to remove the junkie files and cleaned the register.Then i installed te software again with no results. I suspect that the problem is connected to the microsoft patches. I am going te remove these patches an report to this forum the results.

My scanner wasn't working on my HP3015. There's a link that you can download from HP called HP FixScan. I need to run it occasionally, but when I do, it works perfectly. Hope this helps.
