I just purchaed an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus at Costco. Setup on both my Mac and my old Dell desktop went smoothly. However, the scanner is skipping pages. For instance, if I scan a five-page (single sided) document, it will only actually save pages 1, 3 and 5 in the pdf file that gets created.
I have been very careful to ensure that the five pages are feeding through separately. It appears to act the same for all five pages, but skips age 2 and 4.
Oddly enough, if I scan double-sided, it doesn't skip pages. But double-sided scanning is very slow and I have hundreds and hundreds of pages to scan, so this is not a good long-term solution.
I've tried everything I can think of but the problem persists.
Thanks for any help you can provide

Hy there.
I have an HP Officejet Pro 7780 with the same problem. Often I have to feed the same document through multiple times before it decides to scan all pages without skipping. No change in anything at all. Just sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I've wasted HOURS on the phone with the helpless HP help people. Unplugged from wall. No help. Factory reset (what a pain to set up everything again!); no help.
If you find an answer please share it. [Personal Information Removed]
Good luck to both of us!

Hi,
I have got the same problem. Most of the time it is ok but in 1 of 20 documents it emerges.
Unfortunetly in the scanned document (PDF with OCR in my case) one page is missing, though it seems the scanner scans all pages - judging by how each of them goes through the document feeder.
For me this is typically when I scan very similar pages - bunch of payslips or invoices. I can run the document few times through the ADF and the result (missing page) is reproducible almost every time.
As I am an SW engineer I have a theory. There is some 'duplicate page detection mechanism' in the software of the printer or the backend on the PC. This feature is broken and detects duplicates where there is none.
THE QUESTION:
Can I turn this feature off - I can make do with duplicate pagess - the critical situation is a missing page.
For HP support: I can provide 3 pages (scans or even paper originals), of which the middle one gets skipped always.
Best regards,
Maciej Jablonski
