HP OfficeJet 6500A PLUS Maximum supported size scanning at 4800 dpi problem

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I'm having problems when trying to scan at 4800 dpi with my new HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus. I get the following message:

The Scanned Image will exceed the maximum supported size (approximately 2 gigabytes).

To reduce the size, try one of the following:

-Scan with a lower resolution.

-Select a smaller scan size.

-Make the selection area smaller.

Of course none of the suggested solutions are fine for me. I bought this all-in-one to work with the higest resolution because I need it for my job.

My system: Windows 7 Pro., CORE IIDUO, 6 GB RAM and 23GB of Virtual Memory.

Question: What can I do to solve this problem?

I'll thank any help with this issue.

Tom.

Re: Maximum supported size scanning at 4800 dpi problem

Having this same issue, doesn't matter if it's initiated from the pc side or the printer side. Will only scan to 600dpi to memory card.

What's the point to having 4800dpi scan if it won't actually DO it?!?!

Re: Maximum supported size scanning at 4800 dpi problem

The maximum optical (non-interpolated) resolution of the scanner is only 2400dpi, so you're not gaining anything by trying to scan at 4800dpi. If you need more pixels, scan at the maximum 2400dpi optical resolution, which will result in a file 4x smaller, and interpolate it to 4800dpi in an image editing program.

Re: Maximum supported size scanning at 4800 dpi problem

i have the same issue, even at 2400dpi resolution for trying to scan a full 8.5x11" pg.  does anyone know of a different driver/tool that will allow me to create large file sizes (>2G) at max resolution?
