HP Officejet 6500 E709 series, with OOMA VOIP system, Communication Error with Fax

Hi,

I am trying to send an electronic fax from my PC to my HP Officejet and out the OOMA VOIP system.  I have already disabled Error Connection Mode on the Officejet.  I hear the connection being made and I can see in the Officejet display that the connection has been made, but the fax just won't send.

 

I am getting a communication error with Fax Device popup, and I can't find any more information about it. 

 

If I print the fax and put it on the glass of the Officejet, it will send the fax successfully.

 

Thanks for any ideas about what steps to try next.

I have the same problem with an officejet j4550. Faxing from machine works. Faxing from PC gets communication error. Many similar reports all over the web. NO SOLUTION as yet. What's up with this?
