HP Officejet 6500A Plus Freezes when copying

Hi all,

Whenever I try to copy a document on my 6500a plus, it freezes. Not only does it not copy at that point, but I can't cancel the copy, can't print, etc. It simply won't respond. It partially feeds the paper and then nothing. The only way to get it to respond is to turn it off and on again.

Any suggestions?

by turning the power off will fix the problem in the short term ( for that day any way ) ...

but the fault will return in the next day every time ! so we then turn off the unit once again and start all over again

The only way to reset the unit is to turn off at the power point , as no buttons on the printer will respond ?

Has anyone got a response on this? I am having the same issue. I shut off the power save mode to see if that was causing the problem, but it is still freezing.

If you guys have not tried updating the firmware yet please do so. You can do this from the front panel of the printer or by downloading the firmware update. Instructions are linked below.

I have done the firmware update and have been on the most current version for a couple of months now.

I have had this problem and update the firm ware and the next day freeze up happen again

I am having the same problem with my HP 6500A Plus. I have tried installing the firmware but it says that the printer is "not applicable" and won't let me select the 6500A to install the update. Any other suggestions?

Same issue. After I use the scan function, the HP6500 will not copy. It freezes, requires a reboot by unplugging the power for 30 seconds, then works fine until the next scan. The update solved nothing. Hello HP?????
