This printer was working fine printing and scanning while connected by USB to my desktop.... until I tried to connect it as a wireless printer to my laptop running Vista. After installing the driver to my laptop and my laptop could not locate the printer, all of the printer buttons froze. Nothing happens when I press anything on the printer. I did a reset [held the power button, unplugged the power cable at the printer, unplugged at the power strip, waited a minute, plugged in at the power strip, plugged in at the printer, pressed power again]. Twice though, the printer has turned itself off, at which point I press the power button to turn it on again. Other than that, pressing any of the buttons does absolutely nothing. In addition to all this, the printer no longer scans to my desktop. It prints just fine, but whenever I try to scan from HP Solution Center [because the buttons are frozen, I cannot press the scan button on the printer], I get an error message that it cannot find the device and lists all kinds of possible solutions to try, all of which I attempted: resetting, rebooting, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling software. I have since also removed all HP software and drivers from my laptop, since it could not find the device anyway. Anything I can try? Is there a way to restore factory settings on the printer? I remember a button for a reset, but the buttons are all frozen.

Hi winnnnnnnn,
Disconnect the printer for the computers, and then turn off the unit for 1 to 2 minutes. Make sure when you plug it back in the power cable is directly plugged into the wall outlet. While all the cables are disconnected except for power try making a standalone copy from the printer control panel. Let me know if you are successful with making a copy?

Unsuccessful. The buttons are still frozen.

Hi winnnnnnnn,
It appears you have a hardware failure with the printer.
Is the printer still under warranty or do you have an extended warranty?
