HP Photosmart C7280 duplex function stopped working.

I have Windows XP and had no problems duplex scanning from the feeder. One day the system locked up and I had to reboot the computer. I have subsequently uninstalled the HP software and reinstalled (more than once) but to no avail. All other copy, scan, print features that I like to use continue to work. I just cannot get the duplex function to work from the feeder. Any ideas?

 

I purposely bought this machine for its duplexing capabilities so I am a little pissed with HP right now.
